BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

While planning a recent adventure to Charleston, FIG stumbled upon the enchanting little town of Bluffton, nestled in the lowcountry marshes. Just a short drive from Charleston, we felt a tug to explore this charming spot, and decided to take a closer look.

There’s something special about small, quaint towns that always warm my heart for weekend getaways, and Bluffton seemed like the perfect place to unwind, with its Southern charm and a delightful, walkable atmosphere.

Last week, our journey to Bluffton was more blissful than expected. We stayed at the Old Town Bluffton Inn, a lovely hotel tucked just off the main street. With its historic allure, you might think it has stood for ages, but it was actually built only a few years ago, combining charm with elegance.

This cozy inn features just 14 rooms, each uniquely designed with beautiful fabrics and local artwork that create a seamless flow throughout.

One of the delightful surprises upon arrival was the option for champagne and charcuterie—what a lovely way to be welcomed! During our stay, we also enjoyed the convenience of a 24/7 snack area filled with complimentary local treats, coffee, tea, and more. And let’s not forget their beautiful bar, offering complimentary wine and cocktails like an Old Fashioned or French 75, which were savored by the cozy fireside in the lobby.

Dining was another highlight of our trip. FIG dined at The Pearl, where we relished the local catches and decadent desserts, all served by the warmest staff.

As much as we cherished the lovely hotel and delicious dining, simply wandering through the town, exploring shops, and soaking in the breathtaking marsh views captivated our hearts. Each shop has a sweet story to tell and showcases the most beautiful collections—more written on these shops below.

What truly captivates in Bluffton are its stunning views. Nestled along the serene May River, locals enjoy breathtaking sunsets that create a tranquil atmosphere. It’s no wonder the town feels so peaceful, living with these views brings such calm.

If you’re dreaming of a lowcountry getaway, I wholeheartedly recommend Bluffton. Its romance, charm, and rich history have us ready to plan our next visit!
