Rhythms of Rest
One of my favorite things about this season of life is finding the perfect balance between staying busy and carving out moments of serenity. Amid my weekly commitments—like Bible study, appointments, meeting with others—I cherish those quiet afternoons at home. It’s in these moments that I can tend to my plants, savor a comforting cup of tea, and whip up homemade meals that bring joy to my heart.
As an interior designer, my days are often filled with creative projects and growing my business. Yet, I always prioritize returning to my sanctuary, where I can recharge and reconnect with what truly matters. My kitchen becomes a haven for experimenting with fresh ingredients, transforming simple meals into comforting experiences that nourish both body and soul.I make sure to check in with loved ones and have meaningful conversations, to let them know I appreciate them and am grateful for them.
This balance is reflected throughout my home, where each corner tells a story, from the cozy reading nook that invites relaxation to the vibrant plants sprinkled throughout almost every single room. In these spaces, I find a deep sense of fulfillment, appreciating the beauty of working to keep things welcoming, while embracing the peaceful routines that ground me.
I encourage you to seek out your own "Sabbath" moments at home each day, even if just for a few minutes. Allow yourself grace to pause amidst the busyness, creating space for stillness. These moments can refresh your spirit and bring clarity to your heart.
Practical Steps to Balance
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to commitments that drain you. Prioritize time for rest and reflection.
Schedule Downtime: Just as you would schedule a meeting, make time for relaxation and moments of rest.
Engage in Restorative Activities: Whether it’s walking in nature, enjoying a hobby, or spending time with loved ones, find activities that rejuvenate your spirit.
